Draught at Q-Brick. Dark brown with orange, lace head. Great nose of citrus, grass, chocolate, caramel, rye bread. Flavors of licorice, grass, citrus, chocolate fudge. Light but tasty, earthy, dirty. Approaching a black IPA. Well done.

On tap at Qbrick, one of the nicest beers I had on tap tonight and probably the best Aqula beer I’ve had. It poured a beautiful ruby brown with a light beige head. The aroma was a nice mild citra aroma & the flavor was a nice bready malt with hints of biscuit. It was perfectly balanced with a nice clean crisp bitter finish. Thanks for the recommendation KyotoLefty! This beer makes a great sessionable ale.

Draught at Tadg’s. Cloudy orange color with some bubbles. Citrus, stone fruits, peaches in the nose. Sweet, malty, fruity flavor. Esters, tropical fruits, lots of peach. Strong bitterness as well. Very tasty. This keg was super flat though, and that really hurt it over all. Palate was rather oily.

On tap at Tadg’s. The color was a hazy gold which looked identical to the Sakura Yeast Weizen which was odd and it had virtually no head. The aroma was hoppy & good. The flavor was a smooth bitter pale ale, it was decent but unremarkable.

I am assuming this is the same as the Sakura Yeast Wheat. It was quite a disappointment. It pour a nice hazy gold which was classic for the style but had almost no head. Aroma wise it was very slight and the taste was not true to style with no detectable weizen spicy or esters. After it warmed up you started to get some tart citrus notes which were nice and overall it is an ok beer but not at all what I’d expect from a weizen...

The Namahage bock on tap at Tadg’s Aqula event. The nicest beer from Aqula I tried at this event. It poured a nice dark reddish-black with a slight head & decent lacing. The flavor was lots of malty goodness but the body was slightly on the thin side. Overall, a really nice bock.

On tap at Tadg’s in Kyoto. It poured a nice orange gold but had almost no head and very little carbonation which was a shame. The aroma was a good hoppy mix of pine, citrus & a mild funk. The flavor was quite good and it is a decent IPA. If it had been more carbonated it would have been in the 3.5-4 range for sure.
