Damn surprising! Wonderful Kiwi IPA from Akita, land of the inu.. Bitter, balanced, and it doesn't hold back. Pro.

Definitely one of the best Japanese dark beers I've had, and certainly the best doppelbock. Super balanced, tho a tad dry.

Tap @ CBM Koenji. Pours dark orange, bit muddy, dirty look to it. Some white foam on top. Aroma is malty, some citrus. Tastes quite rough and heavy-bodied, light citrus notes making it maybe slightly lighter but not that much. Bitterness is there, everywhere - but somehow muted, not very bright. Not the greatest balance in this beer, drinkable - yes, outstanding - not at all.

Stewed vegetable and iodine nose. Very malty. The mouth shows stone fruit, tons of malt, modest sweetness. Rounded. Better than the nose, but still not great.

Tap at Takumiya. Dark orange, cloudy, low head. Juicy nose, orange, apricots. Spicy, fruity, juicy flavor with more pineapple. Well done.

Tap at Bungalow 2. Glowing golden orange, light haze, with lace. Simcoe in the nose, grassy, citrus, wheat, minerals. Grapefruit. Huge grass and herb flavor, citrus, grapefruit especially. Nice. Not quite imperial, really, but I guess IPAs are going down in abv in Japan, so 7% is seeming strong.

pale golden white color. Frothy white head. Crisp, grassy, fruity dry hoppy nose. Low carbonation, dry, Smooth, very fruity, with the rice giving it a bit of unique mouthfeel. Dry bitter finish.

Tap @ CBM Toranomon, New England vs West Coast event. Pours light yellow, bit of haze. Nose has some super light fruits and NE hop dust character. Taste has some bitter biscuity feel at first, some tart fruity notes and bit of hop dust bitterness. Quite watery body but that's only 3.5% abv, so you can expect that. Light fruity finish, quite dry and lightly bitter. Sessionable yes, light NE character, yes, anything else, not really.

Very turbid medium amber color. Lots of tropical fruit in the nose with some white gummy bears. Fairly smooth mouth, but not a ton of depth. Just kinda sits there, lifeless, directionless. Flat boring finish. Meh. Quaffable if anything.

Hazy orange, bit of foam on top. Aroma is quite unusual for the beer, slightly smoky, sake feel to it as well. taste is fruity, nice sake rice. Feels somewhat stronger, berries and quite clean finish. Slight sourness in the end, dry, not really a long linger there.
