Description

03-10-19 // bottle from Getränke Stumpf. Quelle melange!! Fantastic blend of a roasty imperial stout and a dry redwine. Nose blends both. First and in the end the redwine. In between the roasted malts Lets see what ageing is doing to this.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, mostly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Slightly musty, earthy, fruity and chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of red and dark berries, berries, cherry, lingonberry, blackberry, black raspberry, cheesy hints of sweat, sweaty feet. Taste is sweaty, funky, fruity and chocolately dark malty, cheesy notes of sweat, parmesan, hints of red and dark berries, blackberry, raspberry, lingonberry, a touch of dark chocolate, subtle sweetness. The wild or bretty fermentation of Dark Ales doesn't really work for me in a lot of cases due to unappetising side-effects - same here. Well-understood: not a bad beer, nice fruity aspects, but the sweaty and cheesy interference is serious.

Cloudy golden, sticky white head. Absolutely gorgeous aroma, exquisite and complex - pale stone fruit, white table wine, some dank grape skins, mold lacto / cirus acid, peppery grassy spice. The taste is along the same line but unfortunately, with a watered down hole in the middle. Also, the effect of lacto and Brett is pretty limited here. Great aroma, weak flavour - makes a good table beer at, least.
