Pours dark brown, fizzy, cola-looking - fairly smoky, almost meaty in the nose at first, but this makes room for some notes of chocolate, charred sugar, woody, campfire smells - moderate carbonation, medium body - a touch astringent up front, with some noble hop bitterness - some chocolate comes out from underneath that - roast, caramelized sugar sweetness - the smoke is there, but not as much as it is in the nose, which is a little disappointing - lingering bittersweet chocolate - decent.

12 oz. bottle, $1.79 from loose bottle rack. Hoppy smell comes right out of the bottle as I pop the cap. Pours a solid reddish-brown with a big tan head that I can see dropping away. Taste is pretty standard for the style, though. Extra malts seem lend itself to a touch of phenol. Hops are there, but the beer is still a touch too sweet for my taste.

A reddish brown ale with a thick moka head. Nice nutty caramel malt in aroma, with light restrained British hops. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with herbal notes, nice light hopping, very quaffable, even more than a year in the cellar. Bottle from mix 12-pack, Halftime, summer 2008.

12 oz. bottle. A pleasant, lightly fruity smell to start with. Looks like a regular beer, puffy head that dwindled quickly. Taste runs to the sour side, like DFH Festina Peche. I find myself rather liking it. I was concerned about the "pomegranate extract" as mentioned on the label, but itβs just a little bit saccharine. Very dry finish. Worth a try.

Bomber picked up at the brewery this past weekend - a little late in the year to be releasing an O-fest, but I guess thatβs why they call it a "harvest" lager - anyway, Iβm usually a fan of lagers from this brewery, and this is no exception - malty, caramel and toasted grain aroma - a nice, clean malty sweetness, with some crisp hops on the tail end to balance it out - some biscuity, gingerbread-like character, and even a touch of warming spice in there to mix things up - very clean and malt-forward, but fairly balanced, and very quaffable - not one of their best lagers, but still good.

Bottle: Bright copper color with a finger of creamy beige head. Thick, sticky bits of lacing. Nose is rich with grapefruit, citrusy. Just a bit of malts. Taste is hop-forward, citrus and florals. Dry and floral, but enough malt to keep things modest in bitterness. Crisp finish touches on both citrus and florals. Good.

A dark reddish brown lager with a thick moka head, receeding. A pleasant aroma of chocolate, plums, a bit of soy sauce, and light peated notes. In mouth, a decent schwarzbier, with light chocolate notes, some lactic points, nice roated peaty notes. A very pleasant beer, given the age. Bought at Half Time, Summer 2008.

pours dark brown, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts with hints of coffee. Flavor, lots of roasted malts, thin hints of spices, with a faint chocolate bitterness, and chocolate powder.Overall mouthfeel keeps a nice chocolate presence followed by a small touch of bitterness.

Interesting amber/copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head - I was expecting darker, but looks fairly good. Aroma of tobacco, malt, coffee, raisins and plums. Medium-bodied; Sharp pungent coffee and malt flavours roam through with a touch of caramel and nuts finishing off the taste. Aftertaste leads more into the sweet and nuttiness aspects and leaves the coffee behind. Overall, not such a successful beer in my mind - more malt and bitterness needed, closer to a porter - but this was interesting to try. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 24-October-2009.

A lightly hazed copper lager with a thin creamy light moka head. Light smoked peaty aroma over herbal malts, light signs of oxidation. In mouth, a sweet malt with nice smoked notes, light and pleasant. Medium bodied. Bottle from Half Time, from a mix 12 pack, July 2008, tasted Oct. 21 2009.
