PROGRESSIVELY OLD SCHOOL
We make craft beer with a throwback approach. Through a combination of time-tested brewing/blending methods and modern practices, we create beer that is complex, thought-provoking, and above all delicious.

AN ALE PROJECT
We focus on truly slow beer – mainly Farmhouse Ales and Saisons in our wild brewery and lagers on our clean production side – with a passion for experimenting with other wild and traditional styles from Imperial Stouts to IPAs to Dutch Kuits.

ROOTED IN FAMILY
The name Birds Fly South is a nod to founders Lindsay and Shawn Johnson. For the last 22+ years, they lived the Coast Guard life, migrating across the country. Their family, their flock, was always looking to find their back to the south. Once they landed in Greenville, Shawn’s final station, they knew they had found home.

$3.20 pint can, WW. Clear gold, large white head. Citrusy, soapy, floral nose. Flavor is green grasses, soap, citrus peel, black pepper. Quite soapy.

Bottle shared at the RateBeer DC tasting. Slightly hazy yellow, off-white head. Aromas of funk, lemon. Tastes of lemon, light tart notes, herbs. Medium body.

Draught @ Beer Temple Aroma is sour and tart with milky notes and vinegar. Flavour is tart with vinegar, apples and citrus. Also milk. Quite aggressive sourness here.

Can at home. Fine gold pour with a large electric white head. Nose is floral and light spice. Tastes of hint of cantaloupe, some white pepper, floral and grass. Smooth palate. Fruity finish.

Murky yellow pour with good head and lacing. Some foeders, some bretta grapefruit aroma. Light tangy finish. Nice balance. Tap at Aslin 4th Anniversary.

Dark brown pour. Strong sour/tart smell of vinegar and fruit. Tart taste of fruit and apple cider vinegar.
