Description
PROGRESSIVELY OLD SCHOOL
We make craft beer with a throwback approach. Through a combination of time-tested brewing/blending methods and modern practices, we create beer that is complex, thought-provoking, and above all delicious.

AN ALE PROJECT
We focus on truly slow beer – mainly Farmhouse Ales and Saisons in our wild brewery and lagers on our clean production side – with a passion for experimenting with other wild and traditional styles from Imperial Stouts to IPAs to Dutch Kuits.

ROOTED IN FAMILY
The name Birds Fly South is a nod to founders Lindsay and Shawn Johnson. For the last 22+ years, they lived the Coast Guard life, migrating across the country. Their family, their flock, was always looking to find their back to the south. Once they landed in Greenville, Shawn’s final station, they knew they had found home.

Union Beer Store: pours yellow with a white head. Aroma is farty funk, yeast, brett. Taste is dry and wild... nice complexity. Quite good.

Wow, I can't believe BFS has only been around for a year, their barrel program is so mature. This one is no exception, hazy yellow. Vinous fruity aroma. Taste is softly sour with complex summer fruit. Delicious.

Looks like orange juice, great citrus and resin aroma, starts sweet with a citrus and hoppy bitter finish.

Nice strawberry kool-aid color without any head, it has a sweet fruit flavor with a spicy finish to balance it. Not too sweet and not too bitter.

Opaque light orange color. Slightly sweet aroma. Starts with a sweet taste that quickly turns tart and sour. This is mellowed by rye malt spice. Finishes with a funky dry wine flavor.
