750mL bottle. Pours deep dark brown with a large beige head. Earthy nose, great spicy Belgian yeast profile, black liquorice, very gentle bubblegum. Flavour has spicy Belgian yeast, black liquorice, dried dark currants. Dry finish, good carbonation. Fantastic stuff.

750ml corked and caged bottle. Barely translucent dark brown color. Fragrant, spicy aroma hints at orange peel, cardamom, allspice and ginger. Flavor is dark, sweet malt, orange peel, spice and dark dried fruits. Wonderfully smooth and quite flavorful. A couple of years of aging have undoubtedly allowed this brew to mellow. Quite enjoyable and a tremendous value at $5.99.

It's been a few years since I picked up one of these. Still 6 bucks. Trader Joe's aren't down in my hood. Pour is a murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is dark candi sugar with some dark fruit. Flavor is dark fruit, candi sugar, allspice and molasses. Finish has some alcohol warmth with cherry juice. Still tasty after all these years.

Capped 750 from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Poured into a Kasteel goblet. Pours very dark brown with a substantial creamy beige/tan head that persisted. Aroma is somewhat spicy with a yeast/banana aspect. Med body or so. Feels a bit creamy. Nice malt that seems a bit Tmavy. Light spice like cardamom. Maybe a touch of cinnamon. Light yeast/banana. Not dry, but not really sweet. Moderately bitter. The flavor is excellent. A desert island beer. It is so great some variant comes out each year.

Pours dark mahogany into a trappist glass. Tan head with good retention recedes to mottle surface. Spiced date and fig aromas. Soft with sweet fig and prune front to back. Lasting warm date bread finish.

Beautiful appearance of clear chestnut colour and approx one and a half inch of creamy beige-ish ecru head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of dried cherry, prune, some chocolate, floral, roasted nutty and rye bready notes; taste is the exact same; I like it very much

Notes from January 2011 Grabbed a six of this & the hef while picking up some manly man stuff at the Home Depot next door. Batch number: 08:50 HB270 30510 A creamy pop-marked head & a clear, bright bronze body fill my pilsner glass. Smell is sticky with caramelized grains(a bit much) & a squirt of orange oil. Prickly noble hops(bottle says Hallertau) & cake mix. Sweet biscuit-y flavor dominates. Middle gets a touch of dry grain, along with a buttery glaze. Finish sets things right with a leafy, earthy bitterness that rides through the finish with a bit of cracker. Slick feel, even though there is adequate carbonation(but it doesn't last long). Alcohol is about what the bottle says, can't hide that. Decent flavor for $6 bucks a six. Though I enjoyed the Hefeweizen more.
