Description
“It started back in 2013, with a glass of beer. Razvan, my brother, invited me to Beer O’Clock in the Old Town area, the only craft beer pub in Bucharest at that moment. He handed me a glass of Punk IPA by Brewdog and told me it will change what I thought I knew about beer. After drinking it, I felt like I was lied my entire life, imprisoned in a box. It is unbelievable how much more a simple glass of beer can offer you, more than what I drank before.
…we realized no one was doing it in Romania and we thought: What if we make a brewery?” – Alin Matache, owner Ground Zero.
With an initial investment of about 100.000 euro won at poker and after many attempts to find the best recipes and the “fight” to obtain all authorizations, Alin and Razvan opened the craft beer studio Ground Zero Beer on 1st of April 2015 in Baneasa, Bucharest.

Bouteille 33cl, merci Madalin, BB 05/01/2020.

Murky amber, small off-white head. Smells of tropical fruit and candied citrus flavoured chewing gum - not fresh fresh vibrant hops. Nothing NZ about it. The taste is a rather generic mix of vague malts, citrus and harsh astringent bitterness. Flawed.

Pretty run-of-the-mill porter. As of this date; this beer is brewered on the super safe side, as to not piss anyone off. Bucharest ground zero

Opaque black, mocha head. The aroma has really old dried dusty sour cherries - no big fruity aroma, the base stout is mostly roast barley, roasted coffee beans - not too showy. Neither is the flavour - the cherries do no miracles, the Stout don't use the malts to their full potential and there's an ugly woody/cherry pit tanninous bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad, but not up to the expectations.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks troubles. Brown, big beige head. Roast, some stale hops, coffee, sweetish, bitter hops finish, medium-bodied, over-carbonated.
