Description
The entire idea of Oriel Beer went back in 2015 when we created the brand and started to make the building from scratch. Oriel Beer is a small family brewery, fully operated by ourselves, located in Bucharest, Romania. The name Oriel comes from the archangel of light, wisdom, illumination and sun. He is a patron of the arts and science for his ability to inspire and one of the seven archangels who preside over the world. He sparked our mind with ideas and we created this beautiful project. Since we are a very small brewery, our production capacity is very limited and we can produce around 200 hectoliters per year, but we aim to expand in short time.

Opens lively this one, not a gusher but don't open on your best cloth cover sofa and pour carefully. Hazy orange beer, mahoooosive bubbly pale cream colour head. Fluffy palate, crisp and semi dry. The various array of Romanian fruit brandy's matured in the various wood barrels provide a wonderfully complex beer. Floral fruits and floral bright citrus, layer upon layer. Floral lemon and subtle but bright tangerine and orange. A little plum brandy in there, light as a feather. Trace of cherry. Soft floral apple and pear overtones. Little candy fruits. Modest floral bitterness on the soft finish. Probably covered about 35% of what is going on here. There are many more subtler layers going on. Never heard of this brandy but it comes in an interesting variety of flavours and wood treatments. Whoever thought of using these and blending in to a beer, I doff my hat. Great vision and great blending. Could drink this until I fell over and still find new things to gibber about.

Bottle shared at Luppolo Station in Rome, thank you Fabio. Typical quadrupel color with an ivory lacing. Nose: raisins and cane sugar, sweet dried fruit. Mouth is thin at first with an alcohol boost. Nice

Bouteille 33cl, Bottled 24/11/2018, BB 2 years @ Niamey Craft Beer tasting, thanks Madalin. Light gusher.

Waxed bouteille 33cl, @ Niamey Craft Beer tasting, thanks Madalin.

This beer hits the homeruns on certain aspects but falls short on others. The flavour is great, the body lacks. The abv warmth is nice and balances the beer, but is certainly present. La 100 beers Bucharest

Pitch black, fast diminishing mocha head. The aroma is not the showiest - humble dark sugars and some burnt / roast notes. Very light hints of alcohol and peppery spice. You do get some dark alcohol soaked dried fruit as the temperature goes up. So, roughly a Quadrupel / Impy hybrid, just not as bold as expected. The taste, on the other hand, is bolder and even closer to a Quad - not as much chocolate, roasty coffee or big dark sugars, as there's alcohol soaked dark fruit, light notes of dark bread crust, some basement / mold notes, palate numbing alcohol and light spicy bitterness. All, in a traditionally thin and easy drinking body. Imperial Stout is a bit of a misnomer for this beer, otherwise a decent Belgian Dark strongie - not as showy as American style implies, but it does have other strong sides.
