Description
Hangar 24 began its craft brewing exploration with a true passion for good beer, the absolute love of flying and the pure enjoyment of being around great friends. My buddies and I used to meet at hangar No. 24 at the Redlands Municipal Airport, after an afternoon of flying, to trade stories, talk aviation, play music and share a few cold ones that were recently home brewed. These days, the location of where the beers are brewed has changed, but the quality time spent enjoying a delicious, handcrafted beer and conversation with friends is the same as ever. I personally want to invite you to join the adventure. Cheers! Ben Cook.

Light, hazy bodied wheat ale, smells and tastes like orange juice. Thirst quenching and refreshing, light and enjoyable.

Bottle with mega-thanks to Alen! Shared in the early stages of the Homer "welcome to California tasting. Pours opaque black with a tiny tan head. Aroma has lots of bourbon, brandy I guess as well. chocolate, molasses, roasty malts, dark sugars. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, strong bourbon, lots of vanilla here as well. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. This is a darn nice beer, but it is not surprising given how good Cobra is.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you StefanSD! Pours very dark ruby reddish brown with a surprisingly big frothy mocha head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and malty with sweet dark rye bread, caramel, toffee, charred wood, caramelized almonds, toasted coconut, roasted hazelnuts, coconut milk, hay, vanilla fudge, hay, raisins and hints of prunes. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, dry wood, toasted coconut, cocoa powder, caramelized nuts, hay, orange zest, alcohol, black pepper corns and raisins. Mouthfeel is soft, round, velvety, tiny astringent and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, slightly bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, charred wood, vanilla fudge, toasted coconut, sweet dark bread, raisins, prunes and lemon zest. High quality BA barley wine!

22 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Golden orange with 1.5 fingers of off-white head. Nice lacing. Aromas of citrus, tropical, caramel, floral and piney notes. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, tropical fruit, mangoes, sweet fruit, piney and floral hops. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Juicy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Hides the ABV well. Nicely done DIPA.

2014 vintage 750mL bottle. Aroma is fairly caramel and toffee forward with lighter notes of toasted bread with notes of treacle and burnt sugar. Moderate fig and prune notes with lighter plum and raisin. Light alcohol spice and light bourbon character. Pours a dark brown with lighter brown and auburn highlights. Moderately thick, light tan head that slowly, but steadily recedes to the edges. Low lacing and medium length legs. Flavor is fairly malty with a nice caramel and toffee note. Light roast notes with some toasted bread. Moderately strong bitterness with a medium light hop note. Medium alcohol spice with medium light bourbon and oak notes. Medium light prune, fig and raisin character. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and somewhat thin with moderate carbonation. Medium astringency with medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty underwhelming beer with a nice aroma but the flavor is a muddles, unenjoyable mess. The finish is very rough as well. I wonder if age would help this, but Iβm not willing to spend the money to experiment.

2012 (13.8%) draft at Imbibe Wine. Nose is raisins, candisugar, oaky vanilla extract, and light bourbon. Clear rusty cherry with a small lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter, lightly sweet with only a light bourbon note. So good on draft I bought their last 3 bottles.
