Cask at the Chop House, Cambridge. Aroma is grainy with soft fruit and tart berries. Underlying malt. Clear amber brown. Thin bubbly translucent white head. Medium bitter. Sour tang. Peripheral sweet notes. Mirrors the aroma with additional earthiness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Decent bitter with some character.

27/8/2020. Bottle from 3at3, Ely. Pours hazy pale amber with a lasting creamy just off-white head. Aroma of citrus, orange, grapefruit, flowers, with an earthy edge. Medium sweetness, and moderate bitterness. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Sweet fruity biscuit finish. Nicely drinkable.

17/01/2020. Cask at the 11th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours black with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of hops, dark fruit, citrus, roasted malt and chocolate. Moderate to medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Nice roasty bittersweet finish. Tenth, and best, Papworth beer I've had.

17/01/2020. Cask at the 11th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours black with a small creamy light tan head. Aroma of coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and vanilla. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Creamy finish, with some increasing bitterness and a slightly off-putting plastic aftertaste.

Cask at GBBF ‘19, day 3, 08/08/19. Almost clear golden with a decent off white cap. Nose is straw, stoned fruits, mellow yeast esters, light white peppery spice. Taste comprises citric zest, grass, floral tones, yeast esters, straw, light herb. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Decent cask saison.

Cask at GBBF ‘19, day 3, 08/08/19. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is dusty fruits, brown bread, cocoa sprinkle, dirt. Taste comprises toffee, brown bread, dried fruits, nutty twang. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Decent mild.

ABV: 5.5%. Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, roasted, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, dark malt, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20191010]
