On tap at Håndverksølfestivalen. A hazy pale golden colored beer with a finger-thick off-white head. The aroma has a good dash of caramel, a touch of burnt malts, and a quite strange but nice fruityness that I can't really say what is. It's full to medium bodied, nicely carbonated, with a light bitterness. Caramel, toffee hints, burnt notes and a strange fruityness here as well. Both fresh and dried fruits, so a bit different from the fruityness in the aroma, but still not able to disect it. Lasting finish. A pleasant one, but despite it's originality and that unusual fruityness it feels a bit ordinary. 190608

Backlog June 2018. Clear, slightly reddish golden brown body under a small tan head. Aroma is dominated by malt, some dry fruit, caramel and wood. Taste is sweet and malty with some dry fruit, caramel and brown sugar. Fine body and same aftertaste. Relatively straight forward but close to the Belgium style, even not quite there.

Bottle from Gulating. Almost clear golden body under a disappearing, moderate sized white head. Aroma is pilsner malt and some generic fruit, I really had to search for the smoked part in the nose. Don’t think I would have noticed anything at all if I weren’t expecting it and really paying attention to it. Much the same goes for the taste, it’s basically a pretty decent, smooth pilsner with just a faint hint of smoke. This is nothing remotely close to Alstadberger from the same brewery or any other commercial or homebrew sample I have tasted previously with Stjørdals malt. Not a bad beer at all, I was just disappointed with the weak impact of the malt type that actually is the name of this beer. Wonder if this is something just happening with my batch or not as it seems that other raters got enough smoke.
