On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with a medium sized cream head. Strawberries abound in the aroma – or more precisely chewy pink strawberry flavoured sweets ! In the mouth it’s very much strawberries again with roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. After a while theres some evidence of spices and ginger too. Finish is quite dry. This is nice enough, but the flavouring is a bit too obviously artificial.

Cask at the Cock Tavern - Hackney. Pours black-brown with a tight, foamy beige head. Lightly sweet with sturdy ashy roast, bitter cocoa, vanilla pods, a few raisins. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Finishes with notes of bittersweet baking cocoa, ash, more vanilla, burnt toast. Nice one.

(Cask at King's Arms, Bethnal Green, London, 28 May 2022) Pale golden colour, hazy, with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with peaches, orange, tropical fruit and white bread. Fruity taste with notes of peaches, citrus, grass, bread, tropical fruit and a mild citric bitterness. Light body, with a touch of sweetness. Really tasty and refreshing. Very nice.

Cask @ Fat Cat, Ipswich. Hazy dirty-gold with a thin head. Has a mostly tropical fruitiness, which gets a little stewed too, but flavoursome and has an easy strength.
