Cask at GBBF. It pours lightly hazy amber with a small white head. The aroma is spiced, herbal, cereal, toasted spice, nougat and tinned pear. The taste is dry, bitter, soft, sweet, apple, pear, apple, melon, oily, cereal, toasty grain, light spice and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not so bad.

Light unclear medium amber - orange yellow with a average, open and frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, moderate yeasty, cellery, UK yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, fruity hops, citrus - orange, pale malt, sweet malt, light UK yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Gravity dispense at Pig’s Ear ’16, 29/11/16. Rich reddish brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is biscuit, light spice, dark fruit rinds, toffee. Taste comprises toffee, biscuit malt, clove, winter cheer, dates, brown bread. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough for a winter brew.

Pigs Ear Fest. Cask. Hazy amber beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Light palate, semi dry and with modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts, touch of caramel. Lots of cinnamon, fresh tasting. Touches of ginger and cloves. Ripe citrus and crystallised fruits. Smooth semi dry finish. Typically heavy handed spiced Christmas beer, that said, this one of the smoother ones.

Bottle from Corks of Cotham @ 4/4% ABV, Bristol. Bright amber in colour, with next to no head. Citrus fruit and leafy hop aroma. Flavours of clementines and pineapple, with some sweetish digestive malts and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Bottle from Corks of Cotham, Bristol. Dark, cola brown, with a thin, off-white, head. Aroma of chocolate, brown sugar, indeterminate spice and a touch of leafy hop. Flavour was dominated by rich chocolate, with a rum edge, toasty malts and a dryish finish. An unusual, pleasant take on the style.

Bottle form Better Foods, Whiteladies Road, Bristol. Pours amber with no head and slight carbonation. Aroma of sweet malts, orange peel, grapefruit and citrus hops. Flavour had some sharp citrus fruit, spicy malts, a hint of pine and dry finish. Unusual and good.
