Description
A humble brewery making honest beer.

After years honing our skills in the brewing and process industry, we set forth to create a brewery with a simple mission; to produce honest beer. The result is a 7,000bbl brewery located in Northern Vermont that is capable of brewing any style of ales and lagers. The brewery takes inspiration from lesser known European beer styles, along with local Vermont life to guide our brews. The attention to detail, modern equipment, and love for beer help produce truly authentic, unique beers. Cheers!

Can to tulip.
Appearance: golden yellow/almost orange color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: piney to grapefruity to earthy sweet and subtle touches of lemon, melon and onions; super light note of malts
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to bittersweet intertwining; finishes grapefruity & piney
Texture: medium bodied, leaning to being sessionable; some smoothness and a low hop bitterness assertiveness
Overall: pretty nicely done DIPA I could return to. I think I liked this a bit more than the citra one of this series.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: golden yellow semi-cloudy color with a finger and a half's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace

Flavor: wraps up the prior noted aromas to fair bittersweet quality; finishes citrusy and malty
Texture: medium bodied, leaning to be sessionable - slightly; some smoothness and light hop bitterness assertiveness
Overall: nice enough DIPA I believe I could revisit.

Crowler picked up from Big Fatty's Crowler Pit, White River Junction, VT.
Poured into a tulip.
Appearance: golden yellow/orange color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated fairly quick and didn't leave much lace.
Aroma: subtle citrusy, very little bit of melon, light pine and some sweet onion hop tones with a light malty backbone
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to semi-bittersweet quality; finishes malty with a lighter citrusy & piney hop tone
Texture: medium bodied, slightly sessionable, some smoothness but also a little bit of hop abrasion - not too overbearing to me
Overall: nice enough for me and seemed a little bit "old-school-ish," I could come back to this.

Can to stange.
Appearance: golden yellow in color with a two and a half fingers of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: light floral to grassy and earthy hops with some toast which seems slightly buttery, hmmmm...diacetyl? Yeah, I believe so
Flavor: tries to mesh the prior noted aromas together and mostly does so in a semi-buttery to sweet quality; finishes buttery toasty and floral
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, some smoothness but starting to become slick, I guess due to diacetyl, well crap
Overall: well crapsticks, hmmm..looking back through I'm trying to think the level of how bad this diacetyl is....hmmm...well, gonna try and be fair on these numbers...gulp, though kinda shaking my head thinking "Come on, Lost Nation, you're better than this."

Can to mug.
Appearance: glossy yellow color with a finger and a half's worth of white foamy head which delicately dissipated. Mild messy lace.
Aroma: bacon/ham meaty sweetness rolling over clean biscuity malts, light sweet smoke, touch of grassy to earthy hops linger underneath
Flavor: awesome blend of the prior noted aromas; keen aftertaste of bacon and grassy to earthy hoppiness
Texture: light to medium bodied, superb sessionability, brisk malty smoothness to my tongue; finishes with the bacon smokiness
Overall: absolutely awesome smoked lager! Though I admit my bias because this style is a top tier style for me.

Can to becher pint glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with an eggshell white foamy head that took it's time to dissipate. Once it did, mild lace formed around my glass
Aroma: dark toast, cocoa powder, white bread and dark bread, roasted grains, sweet earthiness and some piney-ness
Flavor: wraps up all the prior noted aromas to blend semi-sweet with substantial malt dryness. Mild aftertaste of dark bread and earthy to piney qualities
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, semi-dry on my tongue, semi-crisp yet dry finish which was somewhat roasty too
Overall: I'd say a pretty nicely done Dunkel lager I'd bang again but also seemed close to being a dark lager too.

Can to becher pint glass.
Appearance: semi-transparent amber color with a two finger white foamy head which slid off delicately to leave some lace
Aroma: caramel/toffee malts, dark bread, nuts, toast, earthy tones and some roasted graininess
Flavor: takes all the prior mentioned aromas to blend semi-sweet with a kind roasted grainy character; mild aftertaste of toast and dark bread
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, smooth along my tongue, finishes semi-crisp with a quaint nuttiness
Overall: I'd say it's a good amber lager I could bang again.

Canned 9/27/24, drunk 12/28/24.
Nice to see LN is still canning. Clear coppery-brass. Big white head slowly to spotty cover.
Ahh, nice to see some things never change. Big ol face full of diacetyl. And honestly, it's damning for the style, but I kind of love it. Buttery and rich...the good diacetyl expression, if you will. Plentiful bright, herbal, aromatic hops and rich malts behind it.
Rich, malty, hoppy, buttery. Sure, the bright, dainty, peppery-herbal hops are at odds with the buttery diacetyl, but I still love it. Classic kolsch yeast notes and rich, deep malts for days with good attenuation and tight carbonation. This isn't GABF so I'm giving it a high score, as I think it's satisfying and barely problematic.

750 mL bottle drunk 8/12/23. Clear copper-bronze. Medium-sized, white head slowly fades to nothing. Brett and sacch share space with a rustic grains and minerality. Great strength of aroma with plentiful black pepper. Clean. Big burst of sacch acidity is very enjoyable received initially. Deep, biscuity malts are well attenuated and there is apple, pear and stone fruit ester aplenty with black pepper and just-emerging Brett acidity. Another elegant Brett saison from these guys...
