Established in 1994
Beginning in 1994 with a 7 barrel converted dairy system, we set and accomplished the goal of providing unique traditional ales & lagers available through OHB. Quickly we outgrew that system.
In 1997, we began the renovation of an 1880 Historic Landmark building, which now houses our brewing facilities, a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house.

Bomber from Bottle Revolution in Raleigh. Best by June 2012. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a medium sized creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted caramel malts with a faint hoppy finish. The taste is toasted malts, caramel and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Quite drinkable. Nice beer.

Bottle thanks to carolinakevin, thanks! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light wine note with some light fruit, earthy yeast with a backing sweet. Flavor begins with sweet grains, light fruit and grass with a bit of wine in the finish.

Pours a very dark chestnut brown - deep garnet highlights. Tall, long lasting, sticky light tan head. Light roast malt aroma. The flavor is light roast malt, dry dusty palate. This is ok, but i’d rather have either the IPA or the Stout or Porter. Black IPA still seeks it’s niche.

Thanks to Sparky for sharing this rare treat!! It pours dark brown in body with a mocha head and dark sheets temporarily staining the inside of the glass. The aroma is big, bold and chewy sweet with a terrific mix of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and more chocolate mixing with dark roasted maltiness. The taste is yummy smooth and somewhat creamy with sweet vanilla, coconut, chocolate, dark roasted malts, molasses and oily rich dark roasted coffee. The honey intercedes beautifully between the bourbon booze notes and the chocolate and roastiness and really pulls this whole thing together. Double wowwow.

Bottle thanks to hophead22. Pours with a black body with minimal head. Aromas are of raspberries, fudge, earthy, bready and lots of fruit. Chocolate, cocoa. Flavors are raspberries (real and fresh), chocolate, tannic berry seeds, and fudge. Medium to light bubbles. Interesting and pretty good.

Big thanks to SuperDave for sharing this. I didn’t even know this beer existed. Wow! Pours clear copper with amber core and tan head. The aroma offers up some roasted malts, apricot skins, some cherries, malts and raisins. The taste is a little on the rough side with malts, a bit of roasted malts and then pine hops, raisins, apricots and then pretty bold spicy hop like black licorice heading into the finish. Nice hoppy brew but a bit young and rough right now.
