Description
Multiple Award Winning Family-run Brewery based in Torbay, Devon!
Bays Brewery began in March 2007 when Will Freeland, Mark Salmon and Peter Salmon joined forces and signed a lease on an old 5000 square foot steel fabrication unit in Paignton. The transformation began towards the end of March and by the middle of June, after some considerable construction and installation works, it was running its first brew through the 20 barrel brew plant.
With Will Freeland’s experience as the head brewer at Skinners Brewery in Truro for ten years, Bays Brewery was quickly able to establish an efficient and consistent brewing regime.

Bottle from LCB, 7 months still in date. Clear dark gold to amber with small off white head which didn't last. Malty on the nose with bread and caramel as well as light stone fruits. Taste again is quite malty with toffee and grain notes, light fruity apricot and citric tang. Light to medium bodied, moderate bitterness. Not much to it. Maybe its better on cask.

Bottle from Ladrum Bay Holiday Park, Budleigh Salterton. Pours a clear dark gold with small off white head. Malty aroma with biscuit, grains and some lime. Taste again is quite malt driven - bready, some caramel, pepper and a light tangy zest. It's ok.

330ml bottle in a chippie, South Molton; on 1st August 2024. Went well with my Haddock, Chips and Mushy Peas! It poured a clean and clear light golden colour with a snow white dome on top. Slightly bitter rather than sweet, easy going Lager all round.

Cask @ Forth Hotel, Newcastle. Dark orange-amber with a creamy-frothy head. Mildly sweet with pithy style fruits prevalent, but perhaps not significant as it's so so as a brew.

Bottle. A gift from Totnes. The person not the place. Clear medium copper tinged gold. Retains a slim white foam. Nose has cooking apple peel. Lightly baked apple. Whiff of sweat. Soft tannins. Touch of leather. Taste is pretty sweet, with a layer of tannic bitterness. Clean and very easy drinking with fine brisk carbonation. Sweet baked apple and light tannins to finish. Very decent.
