Associated Venue: Steam Town Brew Co
Established in 2017
Our site has a fascinating history. We opened in November 2017 and despite originally being built as a pub, the first ever pint poured here was a Steam Town one — one hundred and eleven years after the original application was rejected.
The name Steam Town is a nod to Eastleigh's rich industrial railway heritage, something we honour throughout the business — from original railway memorabilia and repurposed materials in the taproom, to our beer names and Heath-Robinson-inspired labels and pump clips.

Growler from tap, bought at Elusive brewery. Aroma combines coffee and spice. Dark cola brown. Thin beige head retreats to the rim. Light-medium sour. Dark berries. Spice. Light-medium bodied. Thin cream. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. It's fine. A spicy latte or suchlike.

Can ordered from Unity. Aroma had sweet citrus and a grassy streak. Hazy pale gold. Frothy patchy white head. Initial bitterness with a sharp citrus edge. Underlying sweetness and creamy oats. Initial the bitterness seemed short-lived but as I drink more it's the prominent feature. Light bodied. Thin. Average. Dry finish. It's fine. Sessionable but a tad lightweight.

Can from Elusive Tap. Sweet and sour yeasty aroma with a citrus streak. Light gold. Frothy fluffy white head. Initial light bitterness with a pronounced citrus sourness. Spice un the mix. Underlying biscuity malts and yeastiness. Light-medium bodied. Thin but slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Not bad but not a style that excites me.
