Description
We are a 6BBL brewery fast out-growing our current site. Also combining a taproom and burger bar, our team are continually economising with space in order to maximise our postage-stamp-footprint.

Our site has a fascinating history. We opened in November 2017 and despite originally being built as a pub, the first ever pint poured here was a Steam Town one — one hundred and eleven years after the original application was rejected.

The name Steam Town is a nod to Eastleigh's rich industrial railway heritage, something we honour throughout the business — from original railway memorabilia and repurposed materials in the taproom, to our beer names and Heath-Robinson-inspired labels and pump clips.

Cask at the brewpub. Floral aroma with some vague malts. Bright gold. Bubbly but thinning white head. Light bitter. Some spice to it. Some sweet and sour comes into the finish. Medium bodied. Soft mouthfeel despite the flat carbonation. Dry finish. Chalky residue. Nice enough if on the bland side.

Cask at the Queen Inn, Winchester. Floral aroma with malts and an eggy element to it. Opaque medium gold. Bubbly white head. Light bitter with an orange kick. Malty into the finish. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. For me it really does the orange. A tad heavy. Not crisp and refreshing as I hope for.

Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Golden in colour. Lemon and hints of Earl Grey in the aroma. Sherbet lemon, tea and hints of orange all feature in the fairly dry taste.

A very rare rerate because the Queen Inn St Cross Ale ran out. Decent juicy stuff. Seems to have a spice to it I didn't refer to previously. And a fruity streak I didn't comment on previously. A new recipe? Still a malty core but no boiled veg. Upping the score from 3.2. Oct 2018: Gravity at Queens Inn, Winchester. Malt and veg aroma. Frothy off-white head. Medium brown. Light bitter which does gain in strenght. Some hops in with the malt. Medium bodied. On the thin side. Flat-Average carbonation. Long finish..relatively characterful bitter. Avoids twiggyness.

Cask at the brewpub. Nil aroma. Opaque amber. Frothy white head. Light bitter. This then smooth out into a flat finish. Light-mesium bodied if on the thin side. Flat. Relatively abrupt finish. Pretty boring to be honest.

Cask at the brewpub. Nil aroma. Copper gold. Some haze. Bubbly white head. Very light bitter with some sweet edged citrus sour. The latter then gains prominence. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat. Long finish. Pleasant juicy stuff. Sessionable.
