2/3/2019. Bottle from Ocado. Pours clear dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, fruit and possibly the lightest hint of garlic though it may just have been the power of suggestion making me think there might have been! Medium sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Not at all what was expected, it was quite an ok ale but offered more gimmick than garlic.

Bottle from LazyPyro (European Local Swap). Many thanks! Clear dark amber colour, white foam. Nose of bread, toast, caramel, very very light garlic notes. Taste is rather bitter dry, grassy. A boring bitter, not a lot of garlic to detect.

500ml bottle. Clear dark amber colour with a beige head. Aroma of malts and mild citrusy hops, and the most subtle suggestion of garlic. Taste is malty, light sweet, mild fruits, not really getting much garlic from this at all, which is probably a good thing, there's a hint of it in the aftertaste which does linger a bit. Light-medium bodied, average carbonation. Overall this isn't particularly interesting, and with the lack of garlic it's not even that novel, just a bog standard bitter to be honest. It sounds like the garlic has been dialled back substantially based on earlier reviews mentioning how strong it was. Very overpriced.

Bottle that Mum & Dad shared - cheers! An amber brew - much darker than I expected, for some reason I assumed it would be a golden colour. It's pleasingly sweet and malty up front. Roasted garlic grows in the finish. It's actually quite well executed; the garlic used does as actually go pretty well with the underlying beer. The only problem is that after a beer I don't really want a lingering garlic aftertaste. So in summary, it's an interesting novelty beer, and one that's been designed quite well, but it's probably a concept that I never need or want to return to.

Bottle from Delilah's, a handy but overpriced delicatessen in Leicester. Been looking for this for a while, and despite the expense went for it. Ruddy brown, clear with almost no head. Very little aroma as well: a touch of garlic stands out against the standard malty bitter notes. I really like the taste though: just a touch of garlic shining through the basic caramelly bittersweetness. Nicely carbonated palate. Verdict: it's a fairly ordinary bitter, lifted by a surprisingly subtle savoury garlic note. Judging from previous rates, they may have tweaked the recipe. At any rate, it was enjoyable enough.
