Gravity cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Slightly purplish brown, translucent and flat. Coffee grounds aroma with a nutty character. There's also a lovely piney hop note on the nose. Sweet taste with the bitterness of the black coffee and pine needle asserting itself. Body is a bit lifeless which is a shame because this is otherwise a pretty cracking beer.

Handpull cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Leicester. Peach/orange colour, very hazy with a thin film of head and a lot of lacing. Sharp grapefruit and mango in the aroma with a good dollop of rubbing alcohol.taste is bittersweet and juicy leading to a more intense bitterness near the end of the sip. Nice long pithy citrus peel on the aroma with some apricot yogurt. Bags of natural carbonation to give the body some zing. Special.

Cask @ Alexandra Beer House, Halifax. Clear golden and clean tasting with a thick frothy head. It's mostly hoppy with an underlying, very light tropical fruitiness behind this.

Handpull cask at Broood, Leicester. Creamy yellow, cloudy with a small bit of white head. Tropical fruit, lemon creme pie, some biscuit on the nose. Brilliant taste, with initial sweetness giving way to a powerful but never overpowering bitterness. Hard citrus hop flavour in the aftertaste. A brilliant pale ale.
