Cask at The Black Bulls Head, Open Woodgate, Derbyshire, Friday 9th September 2016 in the company of Dad and Pauline. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Fruity (dark fruit skins) on the nose and immediately in the mouth, nice bitter linger with chocolate also coming to the party and perhaps just a faint hint of coffee. Lovely beer. Hazy amber - gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is dry and fairly crispy. Thin malts, mildly sweet. Decent spicy orange hop but alose a little thin feeling. Marmalade. Touches of pine, peach and mango. Thin bitterish finish. Not bad but the malt base is flimsy.

Bottle thanks to Ken. It pours black with a smal, bubbly beige head. The aroma is fresh, perfumed, piney action, varnish, berry, fruit compote, dark chocolate and jam. The taste is smooth, roasted malt, perfumed, chocolate, peppery spice, light char, earth, pine needles, alcohol, floral and juniper with a dry, peppery finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent perfumery cda.
