Description
Rowton Brewery was established in October 2008 by Jim Preston. Purpose built in a converted Victorian cattle shed on the family farm the micro-brewery has plenty of character.

Rowton Brewery has been supplying the good people of Shropshire with traditionally brewed real ales since 2008.

Consistency is maintained by getting the basics right every brew by using high quality Maris Otter malt, the finest hops sourced from round the world and water drawn from our own borehole.

The theme around the breweries logo and merchandise is based around the Rowton Meteorite that landed in the village of Rowton in 1876, which is believed to be the only Iron Meteorite that has been seen to hit the Earth in the United Kingdom. The Meteorite is currently in the Natural History Museum in London.

Cask @ The Pheasant, Wellington, Shropshire. Clear gold appearance, well-appointed white foam. Pale malt nose. Pale golden ale malt to taste, soft textures. Standard Rowton golden ale, which is fine, but no Mosaic hop characteristics present at all.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the brewery tap (Pheasant Inn, Wellington Shropshire) on 7th May 2019. Clear and bright golden body, snow white crown on top. The Mosaic hops give the beer a very bitter and dry feel from start to finish with a distinct citrus aroma and flavour. Too dry for my palate but it's a fine beer for the citrus monsters out there.

Cask @ The Tiddly, Ellerdine. Pours slowly clearing gold, white froth atop. Aroma has some mild grapefruit, citrus. Taste is hoppier than expected for Rowton, perhaps a day or two past its freshest but generally nicely rounded with moderate resin.

Hand-pulled cask pint in the brewery tap house (Pheasant Inn, Wellington) on 27th Jan 2019. 1st pint of the day. Golden bodied, white crown that lasted. Good semi-sweet malty base with a solid hop front, earthy and piney hops give a fine bitter balance to the brew; another winner from this lovely family run brewery.

Hand-pulled cask pint in the brewery tap (Pheasant Inn, Wellington Shropshire). Black bodied with a tanned foaming head. Malty little number with a good hop undertone (Equinox I suspect!). Easy drinking, well balanced Porter, neither thin nor thick bodied, just right.
