Cask-conditioned at the Summer Beer Festival, The Royal Oak, Bath 17/07/08. This was corrupted by diacetyl - butterscotch totally dominated the aroma and flavour in an overpowering, cloying way. Awful.

Cask at Banbury Beer Festival 08-05-08 Pours very, dark brown with a thin off white head. deliciously hoppy on the nose and mouth, quite indulgent for a mild, bags of flavour great interplay between the hops and chocolate roasty malts, very good. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6 Had this again on Cask (Gravity) at Charlbury Beer festival 04-07-09 Pours black with a tiny rim of bubbles at the outset that didn’t hang around for long. Chocolate and malty aroma with fruit. Taste is stunning, great fruitiness, its sweet but it carries this sweetness off very well indeed. I cannot determine what the fruit is that I’m getting but its very nice. Hops, chocolate and good maltiness finish off proceedings, tied for best beer of the day around our table with the Millstone True Grit. A8 A4 F8 P5 Ov16 4.1

Cask, Hoylake Lights. Served ridiculously cold, in a ’chill out’ glass....Why oh why ? If I want to ’chill out’ I’ll seek my pleasures elsewhere. Why the brewers revenge ?! Intriguing, perhaps some unspeakably vile ingredient has been injected. Perhaps some bodily fluid ? It certainly tasted like it, from what I could glean. Hazy amber with a lingering white head. Some fruit in the aroma. Initially not bad, with some balanced enough malt and hops, but a really nasty aftertaste, damp wood ?verging on stale, maybe I just had a bad one, but I couldn’t finish. Revenge taken.

Cask at Roscoe Head, Liverpool. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Slight haze. Earthy, but quite hoppy and bitter finish. Fullish in terms of sweetish malt in mouth. Slightly syrupy malt in mouth and aroma. An unsubtle ESB, but with most of the right elements. Peppery hop on end is good.

Cask at GBBF 2007. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, and so is the flavor.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 9 Aug 2007) Pale amber colour with brief white head. Fruity nose with fresh hop aromas, grapefruit and a hint of grass. Fruity taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit and grassy, citrussy hops in a long, fairly dry finish. Very nice hoppy beer.

Cask@GBBF2007. Golden colour, small bubbly head. Aroma is really oaky and wooden along with some slight hoppy hints. Flavour is very wooden, hoppy and has a slight acidic touch to it. Nice.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2007. Gold, lasting off white head. Lovely fresh hop aroma, grapefruit, but restrained. Really lovely in mouth. Good condition. Fragrant hop. Nice beer, malts are fine, a little earthy on the end.
