Keg draught at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Dark almost brownish gold and hazy with a small uneven white head. Floral aroma, some pear and some tangerine, a bit of vanilla. Sweet taste, some caramel and some orchard fruits, turning to hitterness in the finish ish. Light body, medium carbonation. A little uneven and messy. Still decent.

Handpull cask at the Grayston Unity, Halifax. Mid-gold and clear with a small soapy white head and a lot of lacing. Stone fruits and citrus in the aroma: it is remarkably subtle but worth putting your nose to work for this one! Sweet taste, some tropical fruit, a little vegetal, followed by a surprise bitterness in the finish. Silky body, soft to no carbonation. Not a perfect beer but I enjoyed it for sure.

A forced errand in Rochdale has forced a few beers there too, starting with the traditional bitter. A clear darker amber coloured classic best. Clean, easy, a pleasant hoppiness with lots of bitterness.

Wigan Beer Festival 2026, Beer#11. Clear golden coloured. A very bittered example of using this hop with tropical fruit developing, pretty decent, remaining a very hoppy brew throughout the experience.

Apart from the chart topping song, Nena is infamous for her armpit hair in performances of it! Hazy yellow gold. Light tasting sour, hoppy tropical fruity until a developing sourness really does come to the fore in its aftertaste. Citrus heavy, but citrus juicy too.

Cask at Swan and Railway, Wigan. Pours almost black with a small foamy beige head. The aroma has roasted malts and liquorice plus a hint of coffee. In the mouth it is quite bitter but with a little underlying sweetness. Favour has roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Later on liquorice and peaty smoke comes though as well. Finish is slightly bitter. This is a decent stout with plenty of flavour.
