Description
Monty’s Brewery is based just a short distance from the ancient castle town of Montgomery, on the Powys - Shropshire border. Monty’s Brewery was founded in 2008 by husband and wife team Russ and Pam Honeyman since then they have established the brewery as one of the leading breweries in Wales. Producing beers of many styles, with a focus on gluten free and low alcohol beers the brewery prides itself on its range having won many awards.
In this new world of sustainability and with a focus on the environment Monty’s is driving towards a more sustainable process. In the brewery we heat the water for each brew from the previous brew through plate heat exchangers, all helping to keep our carbon footprint down as much as we can. We don’t use any plastic in our packaging, and our waste grain, feeds local cattle, our first and last beer run-ins which would be a waste product are fed to a herd of Welsh Wagyu.

500ml Bottle: BBD end of Apr 15, drank in the sun on 15th June 14. Poured a terracotta orange with a poor wisp and collar for a topping. Sweet, alcoholic and malty. I enjoyed it but there wasn’t a lot going on for an 8% ABV brew.

500ml bottle from Appleyards, Shrewsbury. Didn’t realise I hadn’t rated this before so a good excuse to buy another. Vanilla / roasted malt aroma, slick mouthfeel with tobacco, coffee, mild dried fruits and moderate sweetness.

Hand-pulled pint in The Pheasant, Wellington (Shropshire) on 3rd May 2014. Pours a dark reddy-brown with a chestnut hue, off-white crown. Semi-sweet malty molasses rule the nose and flavours with caramel notes to the fore. Hints of dark berries in the taste also. Decent enough, I like malty, fairly sweet brews.

Dark malty taste, hints of coffee and dark chocolate, slightly roasted towards the ending. Easy going stout, rather thin bodied.(Tromsø 18.04.2014).

Flaske 0,5l fra Kjeller 5. Drukket i Skibotn 26 Des 13. Mørkerød dyp amber. Lavt, litt farget skum som flater helt ut. Brukbar aroma av røstet malt. Smaken blir vassen. Gjennomgående preg av røstet malt og litt røyk. Bra i forhold til styrken.
