Description
Our brewery, built on traditional skills and values, has its home in an ancient barn, nestling at the foot of Warton Crag, an area of outstanding natural beauty AONB where we mix top quality ingredients with a great deal of love, more than a little patience and a deep seated respect for the heritage and beauty of our surroundings, to produce award winning hand-crafted ales.

Bottle at the Castle Inn, Hornby. Appearance - opaque black but with some red chinks around the edge. A thin fawn head that disappears quickly. Nose - nuts and molasses. Taste - more molasses and hazelnuts. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - solid if unexciting.

On cask at the White Cross, Lancaster. Appearance - dark brown to black with some orange chinks. Nice fluffy head. Nose - tonnes of cinnamon. Dry chocolate and malt. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a dry middle section and a decent crunchy finish. Overall - cinnamon a bit too prevalent but there’s enough malt complexity to give balance.

Cask at GBBF’16, day three, 11/08/16. Golden blonde with a decent off white head. Nose is bready malts, straw, light grains. Taste comprises buttery notes, bread, light fruit esters, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Average to sub par ... looks and feels good but lacks at the business end and has a buttery twist that this Bois does not appreciate!
