This pours a medium gold with a +2 finger head of foam.

The nose is interesting...notes of chocolate and light coffee. Maybe? some bready malt aromas. Yes, I think so. Weird smell to this brew but I have to say, it’s inviting. The more I thought about it, the more I think it has kind of a brownie smell to it.

It has a very nice coffee flavour up front with more or less hints of chocolate. Not much hop bitterness that I can detect; all of the bitterness seems to be coming from the coffee. I’m digging it now that half the glass is gone.

Good mouthfeel and easy drinking, this would make for an excellent breakfast beer for those folks in Odd Sides’ distro area. 4.5% abv..you got the right idea!

Bottle - thanks blowOffTube! Pours deep clear ruby black with a small tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is roasty, pine, citrus. Flavor is the same, light sweet and light bitter, definitely mixing the roast and hops well. Medium body, a bit watery on the palate. Nice effort.

Gorgeous tan foam sitting on a pitch black brew, the lacing is pretty spectacular.

Lovely mix of coffee and chocolate, sweet chocolate. Nothing too bitter in the smell. It almost smells like a milk stout when I ignore the coffee aroma.

Coffee first, then some spicing, then some heat? Gall dang it, I didn’t read the label; habaneros are in this puppy and I’m getting them a few ticks after the swallow. Nice! Before they hit, there’s a nice level of milk chocolate to go along with the coffee. Nice job of multi tasking this brew is doing.

Medium bodied, ditto for the carbonation.

Man, this sucker packs some real heat! Not for the timid but if you’re a fan of spicy foods, this will fit right in with ya. Lovely brew.

12 oz bottle. Deep red brown pour with a light tan head. Piney citrus roasted aromas. Clean hoppy roasty flavor, with pine and roast, hints of floral and citrus. This is quite well-done. Very flavorful, but also light.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy nearly opaque reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, orange zest, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, roasted malt, cocoa, toast, light char, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of hop and roasted malt notes; with good strength. Taste of tangerine, orange zest, pineapple, lemon zest, chocolate, roasted malt, toast, light char, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pineapple, chocolate, roasted malt, toast, floral, grass, and light pine on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of hop and roasted malt flavors; with a very balanced hop/malt flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, lightly creamy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice black IPA style. All around nice balance and complexity of hop and roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
