Gode saker!

Bottle. A beer so dark I’d mistake it for a stout or porter by looking at it. It’s brown, but borderline black, with a minimal sized dark beige head. The aroma is rather roasted, with dark chocolate, some coffee and a pleasant piney touch. It’s full-bodied, smooth and slightly sweetish on the palate, with roasted malts and dark chocolate dominating the flavor. There’s bitterness too, but considering that the brewery says it’s and American-style Brown Ale I’d prefer more of both bitterness and the piney, resiny hops. Some nuts and brown sugar too. Lasting finish that is a bit on the sweet side. Overall, sure nice. A beer that I wouldn’t mind repeating. 151130

500 ml bottle, batch #008, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Cloudy brown colour. low off-white head. Aroma of medium roast malts and piney hops, also hints of fresh brown bread. Very sweet, very resinous and bitter flavour, unbalanced and unharmonious.

Bottled@AIH53 (Vinmonopolet, Kirkenes). Orangeish amber colour, small white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruits and mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, some toffee, yeasty and mild wooden notes. Balanced and ok, but still quite much on the yeasty side.

Amber color, good steady off-white head. Aroma has grass, lime and cat piss. Light to medium-bodied. Flavor is fruity with pineapple and gooseberries.Citric finish with long bitterness. Not my kind of hop profile.

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Storo, Oslo. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with a rather modest off-white head. Hoppy aroma with pine, fruity notes and solid dose of caramel. Sweet and malty with piney and some citrusy flavours and an almost harsh bitterness. Not very Christmassy, but quite drinkable. --- Beer merged from original tick of El Jucan DIPA on 13 Nov 2015 at 17:40 - Score: 6
