Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

Bottle: Poured a light yellow color ale with a spritzy white head with no retention or lacing. Aroma of grapes notes with light dry Brett notes with some light residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of dry Brett notes with some light residual sugar notes and grapes with light vinous finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Interesting mix of flavours but great balance between flavours and more attenuation would help improve this beer.

A dark brown stout with no head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light peated notes, light grapes, ok. In mouth, a light watery stout with light peated notes, light fruity esters, ok. Cask Days 2019.

On tap at Burdock, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with piney hops, nice dry hops, and crisp biscuity malt. Balanced and expertly constructed. Great stuff.

On tap at Burdock, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out wild yeast from the kveik, with biscuity malt underneath. Flavour is crisp and fairly neutral, with lots of mineral water. Not much going on here. Uninteresting.

On tap at Burdock, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out medium toasted malt, with Concord grape juice. Flavour is a rather unpleasant hybrid of a dry stout and Concord grape juice. This just doesn't cannot work well. Bad idea.

On tap at Burdock, pours a hazy blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out dry biscuity malt with little else. Flavour is clean and unassuming, with biscuity malt, gentle hops, and light floral notes. Clean and easy.
