Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge, as Colchester London Porter. Dark clear copper-brown with a creamy, slightly off-white head. Has a sweetened roasted malt aroma, which is slightly more stated in its taste.

Tried at the Three Horseshoes Waddington. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma is fruity peach. taste light and fruity and sweet.

Gravity cask from the Drayman’s Son, Ely. Very dark brown, only slightly translucent. A small loose tan head bobble about. Light scent dominated by chocolate fudge. The Cat’s Whiskers tastes delicious, more so than the aroma implies. Deep notes of fudge and coffee give way to root beer, blackcurrant and bitter chocolate. Finish is very dry, considering what has come before. A wonderfully warming and complex old-fashioned stout, perfect for the onset of autumn.

Gravicask on the second day at Plymouth Camra Beer Festival 2016. Pale golden body, clear. Bubbly ring to the rim of the surface. Restrained hop fruity smell. Mild citrus taste, hints of lemon, joined by malt with a mild caramel touch. Easy going. So and so (Shared with Finn, 24.09.2016).

Gravicask on the second day at Plymouth Camra Beer Festival 2016. Coal black body, almost naked at the top, lacing rings down the glass. Roasted nose, hints of cocoa and chocolate. Brown sugar and o’boy chocolate flavours, lightly roasted. Coffee bitterness to the finish. Rather thin on the swallow. Accepted (Shared with Finn, 24.09.2016).

Black, tan edges, dense beige head, good lacing
Aroma of soft chocolate, sweet vanilla, soft coffee
Taste of sweet dark malts, sweet dark chocolate, very soft roast, soft roast coffee, creamy vanilla, very mellow malts, nothing overdone, flavours very well balanced, great flavour
Palate - Medium body, smooth, good texture, quite sweet. Finish of smooth dark malts, so so smooth
Overall - Really nice, smooth, best beer of the trip so far. So drinkable. One of the best coffee porters I’ve had. Superb
