Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽

Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Hazy yellow. Strong fruity aroma. Quite thin and watery. Very sweet but lacks depth. I can really taste the plums though.

0.33l bottle. Slightly hazy pale golden body, white head, lots of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma has a big cheesy yeast character with notes of lemon juice, earth and citrusy hops. Taste of hay, bread, earth and loads of medicinal and some grassy hops. Quite bitter. The body is light medium. OK beer.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pale golden color, hazy. White head. Aroma’s: fruity, refreshing, grassy hops, a bit of grain, light sweet fruit, light spices. Flavor is light bitter, fruity, light caramel. Body is thin, carbo is quite high. Finishes light bitter. Nice, but could have done with a bit more body.

Bottle - Floral hops and dark roast.  Dark deep brown with a light brown head.  Dark malts and a roasty and hoppy bitterness.  Nice and quite like a Black IPA.

Bottle - Tropical fruit, passion fruit.  Cloudy gold with a decent white head.  Sweet fruit, a little overripe fruit with sweetness.  A bit too fruity for my tastes.

Bottle thanks to Leighton on the IoW Jolly. It pours dark brown with a thick beige head. The nose is cocoa, mild chocolate, roasted malt, lactose and some orange sherbet. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasty, coffee grounds, spicy, alcohol and orange peel with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Solid hoppy dark beer.

Bottle shared by Leighton during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, dough, spice, hay, straw, grainy, light herbal, grass and passion fruit. The taste is crisp, dough, juicy tropical fruits, candy, citrus peel, light toast and sherbet with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. All comes together rather well. Very nice.
