Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, weβre always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe ππ½
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Clear light golden with a small white head. Aroma of lemon, grain and mineral notes. Flavour is a over light sweet and bitter with some light citric sourness. Light bodied with high carbonation. Refreshing, gassy and not really beer.

Can. Clear very light yellow, looks like watery lemonade. Some citrus zest, lactose, oats, straw, mineral water, watery orange, light flowery. Light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation. Not really beer. Seems indeed like it tries to be similar to a fermented softdrink but it isn't as good as those. Meh.

37.5cl fles van Slijterij De Laat. Vrijwel heldergouden kleur, witte kraag. Aroma is zuur, hout, citroen, iets funky. Smaak volgt, vrij zuur, citroen, hout, het Saison-karakter en de rode wijn zijn vrijwel niet waarneembaar. Lekker frisse Sour ale, maar meer (helaas) ook niet.

Bottle. What I would maybe call a hoppy stout - too roasty to be a BIPA, but too hoppy to be a regular stout. Pours black with a medium white head. Aroma is roasty, dark malts, lots of hops, some herbal notes, pine. Medium body. Flavour is malty, spice and grain notes from the rye. Hint of caramel. Really roasty, lots of dark malts, medium bitterness. Really intense hops, with lots of dark fruit, pine and herbal notes. Very hop forward. Reminds me of the black betty. Hints of coffee and chocolate. Finishes roasty and bittersweet. Really nice.

Golden colour with haze coming from the residue in the bottle. Aroma and flavour have crisp and slightly sweet tangerine notes. Clean finish. Moderately bitter. Good session beer.

Aroma heeft wat citrus en gember. Licht bitter in de smaak, fris, citrus, maar ook wel alsof het iets funky is. Erg smakelijk

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in December 2019. Hazy, golden yellow with a medium large, foamy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sourish, slightly sweetish, gently funky and rather fruity aroma of lemon, lemon peel, barnyard, hay and some gooseberry. Gently sour, rather fruity, quite funky taste of lemon, lemon peel, barnyard, hay, grains and gooseberry, followed by a medium long, fairly dry, gently tart and quite woody finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Superbly balanced tart Saison, fairly complex and refreshing at the same time. Oedipus is killing Sours for quite a while now, what a development from their early generic kettle sours.
