Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Golden colour with light haze. Aroma is fresh, zesty and funky. Flavour has a citric tartness with sharp orange sherbet. There's a background fruity sweetness though I dare not say it's anything of the red wine barrel.

Watching “Ansikte mot Ansikte”. Unclear pale amber, white head. Heavy biscuitty malts, citrus, caramel, skunky old hoppellet, pine. Sweet & bitter. Medium body & soft carb. Expected a boozy maltbomb but it’s more pleasant than expected. Muted dry DIPA.

Pours a cloudy deep golden to orange colour and an off white head with a little retention. Aroma's of bready malt and some fruit. Additionally light herbs/spices retronasal. Flavour is moderate sweet, caramellish, bready, with mild bitterness. Warming alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Light moderate bitter finish.

Half champagne bottle from Sterk Amsterdam. Piwo z grzybami i czarnym bzem. matko swieta alez zwariowany pomysl. ogolnie piwo jest baardzo owocowe, borowka jagody i inne niebieskie owoce, cos tam z grzybow czulem, cos jak sos z podsmazanych pieczarek na patelni, kwaskowy, wytrawny profil, to lubie, barwa czerwona, piana o lekkim zabarwieniu rozowym rosnie szybko ale i opada szybciej niz roznie, jak w szampanach, niesamowicie mineralne i owocowe piwo. fajny projekt, acha alko ukryte.

0.375 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in September 2019. Hazy, golden yellow with a medium large, fluffy, quickly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, quite fruity, moderately funky and gently vinous aroma of white grapes, gooseberry, lemon, red wine and some vinegar. Minimally sweetish, gently sour, woody-dry, quite fruity and slightly funky taste of lemon, vinegar, gooseberry, white grapes and red wine, followed by a medium long, gently tart, fairly woody-dry, slightly funky, gently vinous finish. Thin to medium body, gently astringent and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tart but nicely balanced American-style Saison, very fresh and pleasantly vinous. Would have been a perfect summer thirst-quencher.

37.5cl Fles van Oedipus webshop. Goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Heerlijk frisse geur, zure perzik en citroen, wat eik, druiven, hint van Brett, iets funky, smaak volgt, lichtzure finish. Goed spul.

0.375 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in January 2020. Hazy, dark reddish brown with a few beige bubbles on top of it. Sweetish, slightly roasty-malty, sourish-woody and quite fruity-vinous aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, cherry, red grapes and a touch of balsamic vinegar. Minimally sweetish, quite sour, gently roasty, rather vinous-fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, cherry, red grapes, lemon and wood, followed by a medium long, quite tart, citric, woody, gently vinous and slightly roasty finish. Medium body, quite astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tasty Sour, nicely roasty and fruity, just a tad too sour for me.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in July 2020. Hazy, pale golden with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sourish, rather fruity-floral aroma of lots of elderflower, quince and hints of white grapes. Slightly sour, quite fruity-floral taste of elderflower, quince, hints of grapes and traces of grains, followed by a short, slightly tart, quite dry, herbal finish. Thin to medium body, minimally astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Fairly aromatic, very refreshing and well-balanced Berliner Weisse, focusing on the fruitiness rather than the acidity.
