Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe πŸ––πŸ½

Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Can at home, light yellow beer, small head, Aroma is citrus, lemon, sour apple. Taste is the same, bitter, light tart, lemon, not bad for a low alcohol.

Pours a light hazy straw yellow colour and a white head. Aroma's: citrus, grain, fruity wheat. Retronasal follows this, with additional sweetness and Light spice. Flavour is light sweet, grainish, with a hint of citrussy sour. Light bodied. Good carbonation. Finishes just lightly bitter. Refreshing.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in November 2020. Very hazy, orangeish amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, quite bready, slightly floral aroma of grains, caramel, wood and a touch of citrus. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, quite herbal-grassy and slightly fruity taste of grains, apricot, some honey, hay and light citrus, followed by a short, rather bitter, quite herbal-grassy finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting beer, fairly bitter and herbal, balanced by a heavy malty body. British indeed!

37.5cl Fles van Oedipus webshop. Diep goudgele kleur, weinig kraag. Lijkt op appelsap. Zuur, licht funky, citroen, vrij scherp maar ook erg verfrissend, eik, hout, zure finish. Lichte body. Lekker.

Pours a hazed yellow / very pale . Medium small white head. Scent is bright, citrus. Mild malty base, providing that cloying feel you get in NA's, but it's fairly hidden behin the citrus. Taste is medium bitter, citrussy (lime) even a tad sweet trough the lime, making me suspect it's not all hops. Sourness is very hidden, to a point I wonder why they'd call it a sour in the first place. Perhaps a tweak of lactic acid, but nothing close to a sour ale. Decent.
