Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Batch #3. Unclear pale amber with white head. Sour wheaty, soft hay, funky yoghurt, rechtsdraaiend, weird funky fruitiness and yeasty microbe party. Light sweet, bitter and sour. Medium body, strong carb. Funky, funny, Freek Vonk approved and weird.

This bottle had flavors all over the place. Bitter, sour spongebob, boozy and stale. Bad batch? Expires end of 2021 but I had to dispose it after four sips. I normally rate Oedipus beers high, so this was a bummer.

0.375 l bottle from 'Drankgigant', bottled in September 2019. Hazy, golden with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, gently fruity, slightly vinous and a little funky aroma of lemon, rhubarb, oak, hay, some red wine and a touch of gooseberry. Quite sour, very fruity, slightly vinous and a little funky taste of lemon, rhubarb, oak, gooseberry and some red wine, followed by a medium long, fairly tart, gently woody-dry and a little funky finish. Thin to medium body, quite astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Nicely refreshing, pleasantly fruity, not too complex Sour. Very nice!

On tap. Pours a dull amber with moderate head. Aromas of Belgian yeast, light citrus and wheat malts. Bright flavors follow same with lemon candy and creamy malts. Quite nice and really enjoyable.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber with light head. Not really getting much out of this. Maybe some tangerine and coriander on a weak Triple base. Spicy bitterness on the finish. Not offensive and easy to drink but it would not hold up to spicy food

Bottle 37.5cl. corked and caged, @home poured into a tumbler. Clear ruby red colour (second pour very murky ruby brown colour), short lasting moussy pink head, no lacing. Sourish fruity aroma, cherries, plum, wood, tree bark, earthy notes. Taste light to medium sweet and sour and bitter, berries, cherries, woody, red grapes, earthy feel, some funk, retronasal wood and funk. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, woody sweetbitter and sour aftertaste, spicy notes, rather harsh and unbalanced, nevertheless a very nice effort regarding this unusal beer.
