Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe πŸ––πŸ½

Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

0.375 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', bottled in January 2021. A bit hazy, golden yellow with a few white bubbles on top of it. Sweetish, sourish, rather fruity and slightly vinous aroma of lemon, quince, red wine and some lime peel. Minimally sweet, gently sour, rather fruity, moderately vinous taste of lemon, red wine, oak, lime and a touch of quince, followed by a short, gently tart, a bit minerally-salty, moderately woody-dry finish. Medium body, smooth, gently astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very refreshing and well-balanced sour ale, really nice.

0.375 l bottle from 'Drankgigant.nl', bottled in November 2020. Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, a little sourish-funky, quite fruity and a bit vinous aroma of red wine, oak and lemon. Gently sweet, slightly sour, rather fruity taste of lemon, oak, red wine, some rhubarb and a touch of lemongrass, followed by medium long, quite tart, moderately dry, woody and minimally funky finish. Medium body, gently astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Maybe not as interesting as 'Bepa', still quite good on its own, nothing really left of a Witbier.

A bit sour and lemon-grass like without the hops to back it, so it comes across more as juice, but it’s super clean. Albert heijn ams
