Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

The cork pushes itself out of the bottle, but slowly. Brett funk aroma's upon opening. Pours a light hazy pale yellow colour and a white head with little retention. Brett-funk from the glass (manure notably, with light sourness. Retronasal there is less funk, more lemon, a little grain, light sourness. Flavour is mildly sour, lemony, a bit yoghurt. Light bodied, sparkling carbonation. On this first spring day this is quite pleasant.

Clear auburn colour, tall frothy macropore beige head, half-way lasting, fair lacing. Aroma roasted malt, liquorice, caramel, hopjes, dark fruits. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, roasted malt, liquorice, caramel, dark chocolate, bit resinous. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, dry malty sweetbitter aftertaste, liquorice and earthy notes, well-made, good one.

Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of grassy hop, dry peppery yeast, malt, coriander and grain. Taste has creamy, yet peppery yeast, grainy malt, bitter grassy hop, some yeast esters and orange peel. Not bad.

Exploding cork upon opening, however no gushing. Small white head over hazy pineapple juice-like beer. Lemon, pineapple, lime, and other fine lightly sourish fruit or vegetables. Bit floormop Brett but with nice sourish fruits & herbs, delicate flavours. Not visible but sparkling feel, light body. Nice, refreshing, convincing beer. Balance is often difficult with Brett-fermented beers, but it's definitely a success here.
