Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.

in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Bottle pour at Side Project line. Repeated as 500 ml bottle, shared with Luka, Hrvoje and Miro. Black with beige head. Chocolate and bourbon, barrel, more bourbon, still nice after all these years. A great straightforward bourbon beer.

Bottle. Color: Black, thin brown head. Aroma: Fruity raspberry, roasted malt in the background, some spicy rye. Taste: Mix of fruity and lightly tart raspberry, roasted malt, spicy rye and sweetish Bourbon. Boozy hints and hints of oak wood. Some bitterness at the finish. Over moderate sweet, light bitterness and tartness. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Pretty nice, although definitely not as nice as the original BCBS in my opinion.

På fat Taphouse med 2×Per o P.N. Doftar fantastiskt med massor av bourbon. Klunkar återigen denna dryck o visst här ligger bourbon med fin sötma o lite bärsötma. Eftersmaken fatlagring med lite ek o lång smak! Mmm gott

2020 tasted sep 2025 Dark, dark, brown head that is small and soon goes away.
significantly more phenolic than the 2018 i tasted earlier today. also more roasted malty and less rubbery/gluey, in the aroma. this aroma almost feels like it could use some more time, bottle, or even better, barrel. roasted malts and booze mostly. lacking the finer bourbon nuances of 17 and 18 vintages.
flavor is roasted malty, licorice, sharp stinging peppery note that suits it really well, bourbon not really directly tasted but can be sensed in the overall flavor profile. roasted malts more prominent than 17,18 and 22 versions, not sure if its age or vintage, but this one is the one most true to imp stout, with roasted malts driving the flavor. great flavor. very balanced too, as the bourbon haven't taken over. finer notes from wood, charred wood, salty licorice. simple but outstanding flavor allright.

pours very dark with a brown head.
aroma of sweet licorice, erasor or rubber, bourbon, fainter roasted malts. intense but also some kinda semi weird glue like notes, perhaps from the barrels.
flavor is spot on really good with a near perfect balance between the bourbon and the roasted malts. ends with a long roasted malty aftertaste. very good balance and very blended. In the flavor i think the wood is in fact a bit less than some of the other vintages, but i do get some charred wood, and only a faint tiny hint of the glue that was much stronger in the aroma. no oxidation that i can detect which is nice for a 7yr old capped bottle.

On tap at the ChurchKey, DC. A dark Mahogany body with a light tan head. A sumptuous nose includes bourbon, chocolate, berries and some acidity. The taste is intense, again featuring bourbon warmth and dark berries. Other elements include cherries, chocolate, caramel, some bitterness and acidity. The acidity plays well against the rich sweet elements.
