Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.
in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Well-made summer beers are really a hard thing to come by, but this is one of them - nice, crisp fruity presence and enough pleasant malts to keep the tongue interested - finishes clean, but leaves an impression of hops.

Rating #200. Poured into a Goose Island goblet. Color is dark brown but translucent, cannot see through the beer. The aroma is Belgian sweet. The taste however is lighter than expected, thinner body. That belgian sweetness is less present. The aftertaste lingers for a while, again that sweet belgian-y aftertaste. A good stab at an abbey dubbel.

Pour is an almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is a very roasty and toasty. Flavor is a little weaker than the aroma but you stil get some chocolate sweetness followed by some coffee. Not overpoweringly tasty but it will satisfy your stout craving.

2006 bottle, poured into goose island goblet glass. Color is cloudy yellow but translucent. Pours with a small head. Aroma is malty with that Begian candi sweetness. Tasty is slightly citrus-y. The aftertaste is citrus-y and slightly sour, which stays with you for a while. 7/3/6/3/14
I guess I just wasn’t feeling this beer at the time. Despite describing it as citrus-y I did not really recognize this as a brett beer, it was fresh at the time so maybe I just could not feel it. Well this 2006 bottle that is brewed on 03/03/06 making it almost 18 months old. It was an extremely generous gift from theisti, thanks Tim. the bottle is a bit of a gusher but taken care of quickly. With that kind of power it obviously has a beautiful head; thick and gorgeous leaving a very thick surface covering lacing. Body is gelatin looking with some sediment just stuck near the bottom of the glass. The glowing amber body obviously shines and does not allow one to see though it, yet some clarity within it. Aroma is full of sweetness and pineapple brett. A sweet earthiness there as well. Basically a sweet and bretty nose, which comes off as a floral perfume when put together. Taste is not as sweet and is more of a calm pineapple brett all over. A light dry finish and bretty burps follow for a while. A strong carbonation at first eventually leads to a nice full mouthfeel with just perfectly felt but not strong carbonation strikes. I like it much more. This is the score I feel is more representative. 8/4/7//34/16.

Orange amber body with pretty subtantial foamy head that laces nicely as it dissipates. Aromas are pleasant, of hops, grass and orange peel. Maybe a bit of a mead like honey note, too. Flavor is nice, but slightly astringent on the backside. Grassy and sweet with some whiskey. A bit unbalanced in the finish as alcohol takes over... but nice.

Excellent aroma of piney hops with some grapefruit in the background. Color is a hazy amber with a frothy head. Flavor promises a lot up front, but kind of gets watery as it develops and finishes weakly with only a slight evergreen hoppy character. Back to the scent... outstanding.

This is a very dry Belgian ale. The hops are bitter and this beerr lacks any hint of fruit or sweet malt so characteristic of the style. It is cloudy and gold but no sediment I can see. Medium palate. Comparable to Arabier but a touch sweeter and a better palate.

2007-09-29, draught at the brewpub, Clybourn location, 6-3-7-4-14=34
Hazy light amber color. Light malt aroma, light hop. The mouthfeel is a bit dry, with some toffee flavor and a quite good hopping. Pleasant.
2006-01-27, bottle, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Hazy amber color. Aroma of beans, malt, hop. Some malt aroma, breakfast cereals and bra; something’s wrong. Quite strong bitterness.

bottle - Pours up copper colored with a thin, head. The pine hop aroma is very good. The bitter and rather well balanced flavor is pretty typical for the style. There are some mild citrus notes and the dry finish is okay.
