Description

Tap at the Borefts After Festival 2014. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is yeast light hop. The flavour is light bitter with a big yeasty malt palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lots of yeast, not many hops!

Trappist-style abt with thick, yellowish white, moussy head and deep copper colour with tiny yeast bit floating around here and there. Strong sweet aroma of raisins, plums, pear, candi syrup, chocolate, coffee powder, ginger, grapefruit, kahlua and some DMS (cooked cabbage). Dark fruitiness in the mouth, full and almost syrupy mouthfeel, rich nutty and chocolatey maltiness, some iron and spices, leafy hop bitter and roasted bitter touch in the finish, bit powdery with warming alcohol and light cloying sweetness from the onset. Very tasty.

Stereotypical tripel with sticky, off-white, stable head and warm colour of ’old gold’, lightly hazy with steady but calm sparkling. Strong fruity aroma, apricot, white pepper, biscuit, white grapes, coriander, sage; fruity onset, light sweetish and citrussy fresh, medium carbonation, smooth ans supple mouthfeel, soft malty middle phase, with leafy and peppery hop bitterness ensuring a long finish with a good balance between sweet and bitter, accompanied by some warming alcohol and something weirdly - and unexpectedly - medicinal.

Label says "Heer van Gramsbergen" so the name above should be corrected. Light beige, thin but stable head, very dark ruby brown colour, clear. Sweetly perfumed, bit smoky aroma of chocolate, peat, candied dates, raisins, sweet tobacco, kahlua, mint; dark fruits in the mouth, mellow mouthfeel, candi syrup, caramel candy, nuts, mouth filling and full with a roasted bitterness and slight smokiness in the end. Scotch-type ale if you ask me, but admittedly with some quadrupel- and imperial stout-like influences. Interesting.

Bottle shared at chriso’s - London. Pours cloudy yellow-gold with a creamy, wimpy white head. A little farty on the nose, some ripe lemon, pale bread. Light sweet flavor with sugary fruit, pear, light citrus. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Simple, sugary finish, some wheat, lemon. Meh.
