8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.

After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Red ale. Nice colour - red/brown, decent body, medium bitterness, solid malt. OK but not quite rich enough for me. 440ml can.

From a 440ml can on 2/11/2025. Pours an ever so slightly hazy pale golden with a medium head. Th e nose is dominated by coconut with some hints of citrus in the mix. There's masses of coconut on the sip too, along with some lemon, lime and a bit of white grape. Finishes with a very gentle, lightly tangy bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate to average carbonation. A nice little hazy that delivers exactly what it promises.

Can. Never been excited by iStout but have loved some variants. Black, a 1/2cm tan head. Roasty with dark/ singed sugars, mocha, oak and other hints of whisky. Silky, lowish carbonation. Firm roast, Welsh Cakes, berry reduction, oaked whisky, a fair bit of bitterness. The whisky adds a lot but is still a supporting player.

Can. Just misted pale amber with a good cm of white head. Softly spoken but nice aroma of orange, preen pine twigs, peach, light bread and spices. The taste starts gently fruity but gathers to a fine piney spicy bitter finish.

One of the best imperial stouts i have tried & I am no miso fan. Chocolate is dominant & the base stout is classy. Def buy again, I have bought a box.

From a 440ml can on 12/10/2025. Pours a deep brown with a smallish light tan head. The nose is quite odd, mostly spicy with a dash of cinnamon It's just as confusing on the sip - kinda weedy and herbal with some dark chocolate, more cinnamon, and just a hint of the promised biscuit presenting. Doesn't really come across as dessert beer, with muted sweetness, with a slightly sour, chemical and lightly roasty bitterness, with a touch of booze lingering at the back. The palate is a touch oily, the carbonation moderate. Just messy and not at all what I was expecting. Really disappointing.

2021 bottle. More brown than red. Clear with a pale beige wisp that's very soon gone. Aroma of red wine vinegar, oak, some cherries. Quite sharp with some earthy notes softening the acidic and woody aspects a bit. Twiggy as well as oaky at the end. Good but a little too acidic for me.
