Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Pours a deep red/brown. bready nose. Smooth, off dry, similar to a red ale really. Very pleasant to drink without being stunning but happy to drink this again for sure.

Bottle at the Bach, Dundee.
Appearance - golden and clear. A little light suds.
Nose - lovely Brett wood and feels more elderflower than grapefruit.
Taste - some grapefruit but mainly barrel funk and a general waxy lemon feel.
Palate - medium bodied, texture, tangy and sour. Good linger.
Overall - great atuff!

Red ale. Nice colour - red/brown, decent body, medium bitterness, solid malt. OK but not quite rich enough for me. 440ml can.

A little vinegary up front but that drops off part way through. Nice currant flavors and finishes a little dry. The Pinot noir notes round it off well.

From a 440ml can on 2/11/2025. Pours an ever so slightly hazy pale golden with a medium head. Th e nose is dominated by coconut with some hints of citrus in the mix. There's masses of coconut on the sip too, along with some lemon, lime and a bit of white grape. Finishes with a very gentle, lightly tangy bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate to average carbonation. A nice little hazy that delivers exactly what it promises.

Can. Never been excited by iStout but have loved some variants. Black, a 1/2cm tan head. Roasty with dark/ singed sugars, mocha, oak and other hints of whisky. Silky, lowish carbonation. Firm roast, Welsh Cakes, berry reduction, oaked whisky, a fair bit of bitterness. The whisky adds a lot but is still a supporting player.
