Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Bottled. Poured red amber with white head. Overpowered astringency cause of the hops. Needs more balance

500ml bottle. Cloudy, brown colour with small, bubbly, off-white to beige head. Vinous fruity and caramel malty, minimally woody aroma, notes of blue grapes, raisin, blackcurrant, a touch of bramble and oak. Taste is tart-ish, vinous fruity and slightly caramel malty without residual sweetness, minimally woody, hints of blue grapes, blackcurrant, some cascara, a touch of morello, oak.
Minimally oily, watery texture, slightly astringent palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation.
Vinous, relatively mild, without edges - decent.

Bottle. Unclear reddish orange body with a light off-white head. Aroma has acidic cherries, vinegar and hint of almond and lemon. Flavor is as expected pretty sour and tart, the cherry flavor is distinct but kind of mellow, gives a rather smooth thing to work against the more raw and acidic flavors. From one angel this beer feels quite one-dimensional and almost a bit unfinished but having some more sips it opens up with much more complexity. Not exactly balanced in flavor, but balanced in body and ends up with a really pleasant aftertaste. Like it a lot and think this might have some aging potential.
