Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Paul. Almost clear dark red - brown beer, thin pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Earthy dark malts, fair bit of espresso. Mild but bitterish dark chocolate. Light dry espresso finish. Very coffee.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Paul. Light haze on this gold beer, thin white head. Sweetish malts. Tangy orange citrus. Fierce chilli takes hold and carries on destroying any other flavours and burns on well in to the aftertaste. Stupid chilli beer.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Amber, with a soft haze. Thin, lasting, off white head. Earthy, unwashed coffee bean. Vanilla. Some spicy biscuit. Taste has some sweetness before turning earthy bitter. Thin body. Foamy mouthfeel. Watery finish. Coffee in pale beers seems to thin all flavour and palate, for me.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Murky, orange amber. Film of sticky, white head. Nose has passion fruit. Pink grapefruit. Orange rind. Some ice cream malts. I get a hint of coconut. Sorachi? Probably just me. Smells good. Taste is really tangy, full on, citric bitter. None of the juiciness you might expect. Sharp, citric, almost acidic mouthfeel. Finish is much the same. The aroma and taste just don’t match up here. Smells great, and winds up barely drinkable. Strange beer.

Bottle big thanks to Dave & The Fierce team. It pours black with a decent tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, mocha coffee and warming chilli spice. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, mild smoke, coffee, warming chilli spice, cocoa and a hint of alcohol with a dry, warming spice finish. Medium + body and fine carbonation. Hard not to like.

Sample. Keg at Andrew Usher’s. Golden body with a thin head. Aroma of green pepper. Flavour of chilli pepper spice that kills any other flavours and lingers like a bad smell. I couldn’t finish a sample of around 50ml...
