Keg at CASC. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich roasted malts, fragrant, liquorice, spice, umami, charred wood and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, dark roasted malts, warming spice (but not overdone), dark chocolate, liquorice, light perfume, cacao nibs, chilli heat, definite Thai green curry character, charred wood, touch of acidity and coffee with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Good depth of flavour and importantly balance. Very well executed.

Bottle as "Cranachan" big thanks to Dave! It pours cloudy orange with medium white head. The nose is soft, sweet, fresh raspberry, jammy action, toasted oats, raspberry yoghurt and earth. The taste is smooth, toasty, fresh raspberry, toasted oats, some creaminess, fruity tang, Victoria Sponge and porridge & jam with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Definite Cranachan character! Well realised.

Keg at CASC, Aberdeen. It pours cloudy gold with a decent white head. The nose is quite subdued.. earthy, bitter - sweet, pineapple chunks, candied fruits, light funk, must and some candy. The taste is crisp, earthy, juicy pineapple, mild acidity, mellow tartness, sherbet, pithy lemon and tangy pineapple chunks with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. More mellow than I was expection. Juicy, tangy and very drinkable.

From keg at CASC, big thanks to my bro Mark. It pours darkest brown with a medium tan head. The nose is rich, bitter - sweet, dark chocolate, warming spice, fruitcake, rum & raisin and chewy malt. The taste is rich roast, bitter - sweet, chewy malt, festive spice, dried fruits, rum, fruit cake, touch of jammy berry, toasty malts and dark chocolate with a slick finish. Medium - fulsome body and fine, velvety carbonation. Rich and well - rounded. Tasty.

Bottle thanks to the man himself! It pours very lightly hazy gold with a small white head. The nose is soft, sweet, fresh, juicy lime, candied peel, light spice and toasted grain. The taste is smooth, spicy, earthy, sour lime, green chilli heat, lemongrass, habenro vibe, sweet preserved lemon, toasty and fiery ginger with a warming finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very good balance of flavour. Works rather well.

Bottle thanks to Dave, shared at the 42nd floor tasting, take 2. It pours black with a decent light tan head. The nose is rich, juicy, perfumed,blackcurrant jam, Dandelion & Burdock, fruit compote, umami and bubblegum. The taste is bitter, rich roast, creaminess, toast, juicy berry, quite jammy, alcohol warmth, Dandelion & Burdock, charred stuff and bubblegum with a smooth, roasted finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Quite unique for a black ipa. Solid, but probably not to everyone’s tastes!

Bottle as "Fierce Nuts" big thanks to Dave. It pours black with a quickly dissipating tan head. The nose is bitter-sweet, toasty, peanuts, peanut butter, peanut bitter cup, cocoa and earth. The taste is bitter-sweet, decent roast, toasted nuts, light charred notes, dark fruits, light acidity and chocolate with a dry toasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. The aroma is particularly nice. Good fun.

Bottle shared by Scopey. Clear light orange golden, small off-white head. Aroma is quite spicy, but not too much to put me off immediately. Taste unfortunately has way too much spices for me, can’t stand em, especially the peppers. But that’s just me, so I’ll be gentle. Not my thing at all though.

Tower 42 Tasting 2. Thanks to Paul. Almost clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Bitterish dark malts, some tangy dark chocolate. Bitterness keeps ramping up and it’s slightly skewed. Light finish. Unsurprisingly has a long bitter linger. A tad skewed somehow.

Bottle shared at Canary wharf tasting . 10/11/2015 . many thanks to Paul for this one. Aroma is plastic, hockey puck, citrus, light roast, Murky brown coloured pour with a lasting halo of mid tan head. Flavour is composed of brown bready malts, pine and citrus, assertive bitterness. Clean bitterness. Palate is airy, frothy carbonation, semi sweet. Solid.
