Description
The Florence Brewery first sold beer in September 2007. Later in 2010 its offshoot the Head in the Hat Brewery started activities. The Florence was during 2016 rebranded as Craft Academy and was used intermittently, primarily as a training facility for its owners, with some beers sold in the pub, although Craft Academy beers sold more widely through the Greene King estate are from the main facility in Bury St Edmunds. By the end of 2018 it seems even these activities had ceased, but the brewhouse remains in place.

Bottle from an off licence in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Poured a clear, pale golden colour with a scummy white head. Floral hop aroma with some apricots and candied peal. Initial flavours of soft fruit, grassy hop and copper. Finish was dry straw, resin and peppery hop. Not altogether balanced.

Light amber. Hazy amber. Light anglohop nose with a little caramel malts. Very light, toasty, some juiciness...just enough complexity.

Amber brown, slightly caramelly aroma. Mostly caramelly palate though with a hint of burnt electrical phenols.
