Pours a nice light orange, yellow at the edges. A sunny, glowy shade of beer. Big puffy white head. Lots of lacing. A nice sheet of bubbles sticks around for quite some time. The aroma leads with sweet, fresh grain. It’s followed up by a solid mix of saison flavors. Lemons, earth, grassy hops, light pepper, a nice mineral note, dusty barnyard and some mild funk. The taste is dry with lots more good saison flavor. It starts out with that fresh grain flavor. Then pepper, earth and some light stone fruit come in. It dries out in the finish, and the hops kick in with some grass and herbal flavors. Mouthfeel is light and easy on the palate. Nice beer. It’s a very solid saison, true to Dupont’s formula though no clone. I’d definitely be interested in trying more from Mystic.

Draft @ Prohibition Pig. Nose is cracker malt and good amount of yeast. Taste is grain, fruity yeast, light muted grassy hops, slight sweetness. Overall, given the ABV this has a ton of flavor. The palate is refreshing and very light. If the price is right, you really can drink a real large amount, if you drinking just because you desire to. Great beer to have with lunch.

Draft @ Sunset Grill. Tulip shows a completely cloudy gold. Flavor was really yeast driven with a good amount of fruit notes, a little spice and citrus. They dry hop this beer and you do get vibrant hops in the aroma but the flavor is alive with grassy and fruity hop flavors. Very dry bitter finish. I really enjoyed the hop profile Mystic used in this saison. I could drink this all afternoon, very nicely done.

Bouteille 375ml. Black body with a light brown head. Just a thin blanket of bubbles but they look quite creamy and inviting. Unfortunately, the head dissipates rather quickly, and there’s little to no leftover bubbles or lacing. Aroma is rich with sweet milk chocolate. There’s a touch of coffee and roast. Some fruitiness, sort of an apricot-raisin note. Light licorice. The taste starts with some sweet caramel and milk chocolate, followed by dark chocolate, roast and coffee. Good dose of oat flavor. Some herbal hoppiness in the finish. Rich, full flavors. Creamy mouthfeel. Big and round for the relatively low abv. Nice use of oats. This is a very nice oatmeal stout. Easy to drink, creamy feel, big flavors. Good beer.

Bottle shared by Phatdog1, thanks Craig! Deep brown color with thin head in the English pint glass. Thin tan head. Flavors of roasted barley, burnt coffee, light chocolate in the finish. Sweet roasted sugar. Light oat presence giving the brew a medium body with average Co2. Dry roasted finish. Has an English malt feel to it. For a 5.4 ABV this has a lot of flavor. You can sure drink a lot of this in a session.
