Received in trade from mixylplik3, thanks again Matt. Holy over carbonation, while nothing sprayed out of the bottle my glass was instantly filled with a dense tan foam and then eventually a dark brown liquid with ruby highlights. Smells of chocolate and vanilla atop earthy spice, burnt wood, and a hint of bourbon. The taste follows with a bit of caramel vanilla and chocolate drizzled atop some dark sweet fruits. Heavy bourbon flavor with charcoal midway through and a long lingering alcohol burn deep into each finish. Medium to thin body with an over the top level of carbonation and a sweet and hot mouthfeel. I’m glad I got to try this, but this is probably my least favorite version of this beer. The alcohol heat is a bit to present and the over carbonation continues to be a problem with this beer (all versions). Liked it, but didn’t love it.

Bottle shared at The Kernel during Nate’s Farewell Concert. So solid overall. Good grass and dough character. Pleasant sugar sweetness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Light dryness. Just very, very nice.

Bottle shared at The Kernel during the later hours of Nate’s Final Push. Dark brown pour with a foamy, off-white head. Dark sugar throughout, also some brown sugar, light burnt plastic, roasted malts, cocoa. A bit of dark fruits, brown sugar and toast. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, dark with short-lived roastiness. Alright.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. The aroma is sweet fruit and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with a dry wheat and citrus. Not much going on with this one.

Pours a slightly hazed deep gold into a snifter. White head crackles and recedes leaving no lacing. Sour summer fruit and sweet oak aromas. Dry with marshmallow and sour fruit upfront turning to mild resin in the lasting oak finish.

Provided to me via the lovely Mrs mixylplik3, thanks for the opportunity. Opens with a huge pop and displays what seems to be the Mystic signature level of carbonation. After the foam settles I’m left with half a glass of light golden beer with a ton of sticky white lace on the sides of the glass. Smell is spicy and fruity. Pepper, green apple, and lemon mixed with a bit of yeasty bits and candy sugar. Wow this doesn’t seem as dry or as spicy as the nose was leading me to believe. Sweet sugary honey malt with bits of candy sugar and green apple. Slightly bready almost crackery bits with some pepper and coriander mixed in for flavor. Medium to thin body with a raucous level of carbonation and a sweet almost sugary mouthfeel. Seems drier and a bit spicier than the regular version. Both are great saisons, but I enjoyed this one a little bit more.

I was fortunate to get to sample this today at the founders party. Pours a solid dark brown with a decent fluffy tan head that displays moderate retention. Huge chocolate aromas waft out of my glass long before I put my nose over it. Caramel and brown sugars are in there as well. A vinous aroma as well as sweet grape and tannin open up as my sample warms. My glass was very cold and at first I thought I was drinking the regular version. Taste is incredibly chocolatey with some dark sugars and fruits, slight hints of oak and yeast esters especially as she warms. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick oily mouthfeel. Another great brew. I’m glad the carbonation is lower on this version as the bottle seemed a bit too spirited. The barrel treatment is subtle but adds some wonderful complexity to a great brew. Recommended!
