Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.

Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.

From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.

Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning, at home (bottled 5 June ’13). Golden to amber color. White to off white head with some retention. Aroma’s of sweet fruit (apricot/peach), sweet spices (ginger/aniseed), hints of citrus. Retronasal there’s some caramel/malt as well. Flavor is rather sweet, malty, sweet bread/sweet fruit. Medium bodied. Finishes slightly dry, with malts and just hints of bitterness.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Very hazy dark orange color, medium sized off - white head. Aroma is a bit fruity and a bit sweaty. Tastes about the same: malts, sweaty, the hops that are present taste like the bottle has been exposed to a lot of (sun)light. Lightly bitter. Average body and carbonation. Meh.

28/XI/13 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 23/VII/14, bottled: 23/VII/13 (2013-1097)

Clear deep orange beer, huge creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: fruity start, peaches, citrus, then yeasty, bit chemical, band-aid and glue, this is not good. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: slightly sweet start, some caramel, sweet mango, then a very pungent bitterness, touches of band-aid. Aftertaste: piny, very bitter, chemical flavours, band-aid again, unpleasant, yeasty, overripe banana.
