Cask, handpull at The Standing Order, JDW, Edinburgh, with Craig, Rob (Rob’s mate) Jan, Charlotte & Loz, 29.10.10 Pours gold/amber with filmy white head. There is a slight ginger burn and whilst the ginger is very noticeable it comes across as more powdery than root ginger. I like it. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby, JDW, Canterbury. Some haze gold. Touch of orange on colour, thin white head. Ginger and diacetyl? Not good. Some ginger but lacks body. Really disappointed with Bath. They can make good beers. But been so disappointed with them. Some ginger biscuit on aroma. Lacks body in middle. Not great.

Bottle. Pours a rich, clear amber with a medium, white head. Decent malt aroma, with some caramel and hazelnut. Sweet, with brown sugar, toffee, light bread and caramel, but only faint, earthy bitters. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, with plenty more caramel maltiness, and a bit more hops. I liked this very much.

Spoons Fest! Clear amber beer, no real head. Some light fresh ginger on the nose. Light dry palate, low carbonation but is still a little crispy. Very brief hit of vanilla kicks off followed by semi sweet aromatic ginger. Not too much burn here, more crystallised ginger than stem. Light dry finish. Pleasant enough.

Rated as a novelty ale. Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 14th October 2010. Slightly hazy amber with thin offwhite head becoming a partial film. Spicy aroma, fresh ginger in both this and the main taste in-mouth, alongside floral hoppiness and a grassy note or two. Hop and spiciness linger in a tickly finish on an engaging mouthfeel. Interesting and likeable.

(Cask at Southampton Arms) Ginger flavoured beers aren’t my favourites so I was quite suspicious when trying this one. Ginger was clearly present on the aroma but its flavour was quite mild compared to the other flavours. The burning feeling was missing from palate completely and that was good. Not a bad one but also not something I would try again.

Medium offwhite head. Pale yellow body with fine-bubbled carbonation. Floral fruity aroma with orangey notes. Dry-sweet papery fruity floral taste with raisiny wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish papery resiny perfumy fruity citric aftertaste with floral notes. Nice, straightforward, and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, Sainsbury’s, London.)

Cask at one pub in Cambride, England. Amber color, lasting beige head. Aroma, fruity, hints of caramel. Taste, caramel, tones of coffee. Nice long bitter finish. Drinkable beer.

Bottle. Clear pale golden / straw with decent white head. Aroma started off with honey and vegetable notes and towards the end had hot butter or butterscotch. Thin body and coarse fizzy carbonation. Flavour has bread with some indeterminate sweet and sour flavours and a little bitterness in the finish. OK but not terribly special.
